The International Academy of Comparative Law will hold its thematic Congress on November 16-18, 2016 in Montevideo Uruguay. One of the two themes will be “The Enforcement and Effectiveness of Anti-Discrimination Law.” Following the invitation of prof. Marie Mercat-Brun (Sciences-Po, Paris) and David Oppenheimer (Berkeley Law, University of California), this paper was written to address the situation in Belgium. The enforcement and effectiveness of anti-discrimination law is a critical question in every part of the world for those of us who study and are active in addressing the problem of inequality.
