Robin Medard Inghilterra

Robin Medard Inghilterra est titulaire d’un doctorat en droit de l’Université Paris Nanterre ainsi que d’un master en droits de l’homme. Il a soutenu en juillet 2020 une thèse portant sur La réalisation du droit de la non-discrimination. L’ambition de ce travail était d’identifier les facteurs juridiques qui altèrent l’effectivité du droit de la non-discrimination en France et d’élaborer plusieurs suggestions pour y remédier, considérant pour ce faire des expériences étrangères, principalement canadiennes.

Sa recherche à l’ULB porte sur les dimensions multiples et intersectionnelles de la discrimination dans le cadre d’un projet ARC intitulé « Les catégorisations multiples des migrants. Pratiques et cadres intersectionnels » financé par la région Wallonie-Bruxelles. La partie juridique de ce projet aspire à cartographier les obstacles à la pleine reconnaissance de la discrimination intersectionnelle devant la CJUE et la Cour EDH ainsi qu’à envisager les voies qui pourraient conduire à une telle reconnaissance.

Entre 2014 et 2017, il a occupé la position de coordinateur du pôle international de l’Institut des Amériques à Montréal et était chercheur invité au Centre de recherches et d’études internationales de l’UdeM. Il a ensuite enseigné le droit de la non-discrimination, le droit des libertés fondamentales, le droit constitutionnel et le droit administratif à Paris.

Durant son séjour à l’ULB, il sera affilié au Centre de droit européen et au Centre Perelman où il travaillera sous la supervision des Professeures Emmanuelle Bribosia et Isabelle Rorive.

Robin Medard Inghilterra holds a Ph.D. in law from Paris Nanterre University and a master’s degree in Human Rights Law. In July 2020, he defended a dissertation on The Realization of Anti-Discrimination Law. The purpose of the dissertation was to identify the legal barriers to the enforcement of anti-discrimination law in France and to draft some proposals to fill the gap, considering foreign experiences, mainly Canadian ones.

His research at the ULB focuses on the multiple and intersectional dimensions of discrimination and is part of a broader ARC project on “The multiple categorizations of migrants. Intersectional practices and frameworks” funded by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. The legal part of this project aims to unveil the obstacles to a full recognition of intersectional discrimination in front of the CJEU and the ECtHR as well as to explore the paths that could lead to such a recognition.

From 2014 to 2017, he worked as a coordinator of the Montreal office of the Institut des Amériques and was a visiting researcher at the Montreal Centre for International Studies (UdeM). He then taught Anti-Discrimination Law, Human Rights, Constitutional Law & Administrative Law in Paris.

During his stay at the ULB, he will work at the Centre for European Law and the Perelman Centre under the supervision of Prof. Emmanuelle Briobosia and Prof. Isabelle Rorive.
