Biography

David Restrepo Amariles is Associate Professor of law & AI at HEC Paris, where he teaches Digital Transformation, TechLaw, Dispute Resolution, and Compliance. He is Research Fellow at the Perelman Centre. He is visiting professor at SciencesPo Paris in Smart Law.

He has been visiting lecturer at Université Paris II in International Law and Economic Affairs ; at University Pontificia Bolivariana in Private Law, at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Legal Theory and Comparative Law, at University of Stockholm in Legal Management and at the University of Frankfurt in the Rule of Law and International Investment Law. He has been visiting researcher in Boston College and the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law. He also was Visiting Academic at the University of Oxford. In Colombia he was legal counsellor in UN Human Rights programs and Magistrate’s Assistant in Court. He has been Research Associate to several European Union funded projects on International law and Legal Theory.

He wrote his PhD at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in the field of law and globalisation under the joint supervision of Benoît Frydman and William Twining. His work “The Rise of Transnational legal Indicators : Empirical Accounts of Law in a Global Society” is expected to be published as a book in CUP. Other fields of his interest are financial regulation, commercial and investment arbitration, international private law and international economic law, jurisprudence, and history of legal and political ideas.
